What to Expect
OC student volunteers will record your story with you in a quiet, dedicated space in the Garvey Center. You simply need to share stories that are meaningful to you, anywhere from five to 20 minutes. Not fully sure what to say? That’s OK! Our student volunteers have prompts to help guide you in the telling of your story about people and experiences that are meaningful to you.
The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world. It preserves and provides access to a rich, diverse and enduring source of knowledge to inform others to inspire and engage intellectual and creative endeavors. Learn more at LOC.gov.
About Story Corps
The Great Listen invites people of all ages to record conversations with elders, mentors, and loved ones, creating an oral history of our times. As we gather for the holidays, explore stories that inspire deeper bonds, shared laughter, and lasting memories. The mission of StoryCorps is to help Americans believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in all — one story at a time.
Since 2003, StoryCorps has helped 700,000 people across the country have meaningful conversations about their lives. These recordings are collected in the U.S. Library of Congress and the StoryCorps online archive, which is now the largest single collection of human voices ever gathered.
