Eagle PR Students Attend Upper Case Awards on Nov. 2.

On Thursday Nov. 2, OC PRSSA members and Eagle PR students attended PRSA-OKC’s Upper Case Awards along with Eagle PR faculty adviser Josh Watson. The students were awarded the PRSSA Chapter Scholarship. The scholarship will give funds to Eagle PR to attend an educational event visiting public relations and social media firms in Dallas, Texas.

Each year, PRSA-OKC recognizes the best campaigns and tactics by those working in the public relations industry through the Upper Case Awards. There are over 50 categories that cover a variety of public relations, communications and marketing functions. The awards show was open to those who are members and non-members of PRSA.

All proceeds from the Upper Case Awards are used for scholarships that benefit local university students preparing for a career in public relations.

OC PRSSA chapter President Trinity Langan wrote about her experience at the awards dinner. Langan also authored the submission for the scholarship.

“The Upper Case Awards provided an opportunity to network with the best in the state and learn about professional event etiquette,” she said. “It was extremely inspiring to watch as high-achieving professionals and firms accepted awards and gave speeches about their journeys,” Langan said. “To me, [the scholarship] made me feel more driven than ever before to keep working hard and get to a point of success where I can look back and say ‘I made it.’”

Eagle PR staff associates Lyker Mugire and Thokozani Fuller also attended the event.

“The event was unique,” said Fuller, who helped take photos of the winners. “I feel truly blessed to have been able to attend such a prestigious event and also have the opportunity to connect with PR pros. One way Lynker and I benefited from attending the award show was the ability to network with several PR pros, as well as congratulating the award winners. [The scholarship] benefits Eagle PR in the future as it puts our name out there in the world of PRSA-OKC as newcomers and potentially opens the doors for possible opportunities such as internships and jobs.”
