OC’s literary arts journal to unveil the 2022 edition of the publication April 14

Soundings’ unveiling will take place at Venue 102 in Edmond.

For nearly 50 years, “Soundings” has celebrated the creativity of students, faculty and staff through the publication of a yearly journal from Oklahoma Christian University’s Language and Literature Program. This year, “Soundings” staff will host their yearly unveiling event April 14 at 7 p.m. They are also providing this year’s journal for free to attendees.

The “Soundings” journal is comprised of student, faculty and staff prose, poetry, photography and visual art works of multiple styles. Throughout the spring semester, the student staff goes through every submitted piece and compiles accepted pieces into the journal.

Emma Higginbottom, a senior English and Writing major and the administrative director for “Soundings,” commented on the pieces included in this year’s journal.

“All of the pieces included in this year’s journal are excellent,” she said. “We received so many submissions, and although it’s impossible to include everyone’s pieces, we try our best to include a variety of styles, media and artists in the journal. And, I feel like the collection of pieces this year fulfills this goal.”

“Soundings” is dedicated to sharing the works of OC’s creatives.

Additionally, the “Soundings” staff hosts community events throughout the year aimed at raising awareness of the journal and providing a further platform for artistic expression.

The April 14 event is at Venue 102 in Edmond, and it is by invitation only. However, journals are free to all members of the OC community after the event. For more information, visit the “Soundings” website.
